As artificial intelligence becomes increasingly integrated into project environments, project managers face a critical challenge: how to rely on AI-driven insights while remaining fully accountable for project outcomes. This presentation explores how governance structures and trust relationships evolve in AI-enabled project settings, based on empirical evidence from managers involved in complex service projects. Drawing on qualitative interviews and supporting survey data, the study highlights key managerial dilemmas related to responsibility, transparency, and human oversight. The findings show that while AI can enhance analytical rigor and decision consistency, it also requires new governance approaches to maintain trust and accountability. The session provides practical insights and guidance for project managers on how to effectively balance algorithmic support with human judgment in uncertain and dynamic project environments.
