Projects today are delivered in environments defined by rapid change, growing interdependence, and increasing uncertainty. Globalisation, regulatory volatility, faster technology cycles, and the widespread adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) are amplifying complexity and challenging traditional project management approaches built mainly on predictability and control. This session explores how project professionals can lead successfully in complex environments by combining enterprise agility with the M.O.R.E. Mindset (Manage Perceptions, Own Success, Relentlessly Reassess, and Expand Perspective). Drawing on PMI research and enterprise experience, complexity is reframed not as an exception to manage away, but as a constant condition that requires different leadership capabilities.Enterprise agility provides the organisational context for this shift. As strategies evolve faster and AI changes how decisions are made and work is executed, project professionals must operate as integrators between strategy and delivery. Success increasingly depends on choosing the right approach for the context – moving from “best practice” to “best fit.”The M.O.R.E. mindset offers a practical framework for navigating this reality: managing expectations in uncertainty, making progress visible when outcomes emerge over time, continually reassessing assumptions, and applying systems thinking to optimise enterprise value rather than isolated tasks. The session also addresses what this means for upskilling project professionals in the age of AI. While AI enhances analysis and execution, human judgement, context, and ethical decision making remain critical. Future ready project professionals must strengthen systems thinking, adaptive leadership, and AI fluency to lead effectively in complex, AI enabled organisations.
